To Whom It May Concern:
As a blind person who has traveled independently for many years I feel it is my
responsibility to give input to the Access Board about audible signals and
detectable warnings at every intersection.
I have traveled independently with my white cane for many years. When I first
encountered audible signals I found them totally distracting rather than
helpful. I need to listen to the flow of traffic, and the "chirp chirp" of these
signals masks the sounds of the traffic flow.
