I am writing this e-mail to pledge my support for the recommendations of the Public Right of Way Advisory Committee.
Being visually impaired, I see the utility in having detectable warnings and
accessible pedestrian signals. On a bright, sunny day it can be difficult to see
approaching traffic if the sun is bright and shining at a particular angle.
Audio street signals would be great in that instance and they would benefit the
totally blind any time of day or night. It's a necessity for the visually
impaired population. We shouldn't feel privileged that there are a scattered
number of accessible pedestrian signals and detectable warnings. It is truly
something that would be greatly appreciated and not taken for granted. It is
vital that the recommendations because a reality. Thanks for reading.
